During the 69th session of the World Health Organization (WHO) European Region in Copenhagen, the election of the Director of the WHO European Region and members of the WHO Standing Committee took place today.
As reported by the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Health, 7 countries, including Armenia, applied for membership in the WHO Standing Committee. As a result of voting by representatives of 53 WHO member countries, Armenia, represented by Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan, became a member of the WHO Standing Committee, which will operate for the next 3 years.
Elections of the director of the WTO European Region were also held, for which six countries applied: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Turkey, Armenia, Georgia. Hans Kluge of Belgium was elected Director of the WHO European Region.
