Biography

She studied at the ballet studio of the Kuibyshev Palace of Pioneers, directed by N. V. Danilova.
After the war, the family moved to Kyiv, where in 1946-1948 she studied at the choreographic studio at the Kiev Opera and Ballet Theater. T. Shevchenko with N. V. Verekundova.
From 1948 to 1979 she was a soloist of the Kyiv Opera and Ballet Theatre. T. Shevchenko, since 1977 – choreographer-repetiteur of the theater. She performed 50 leading parties.
Toured abroad: East Germany, Iceland, Denmark, Czechoslovakia, USA, Canada, France, etc.
In 1980 she graduated from the ballet master department of the State Institute of Theatrical Art. A. Lunacharsky in Moscow (now the Russian University of Theater Arts – GITIS) with a degree in teacher-choreographer [2].
She was a member of the jury of many international ballet competitions, including the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Moscow International Competition of Ballet Dancers and Choreographers, the Crystal Slipper International Youth Competition of Classical Dance (Kharkov), a number of All-Union Competitions for Young Artists and choreographers, headed the competition commission of the All-Union review of choreographic schools of the USSR.
She worked as a teacher-repetiteur at the National Opera of Turkey (Ankara), for more than 10 years she taught at Japanese ballet schools in Nagoya (International Center for Classical Dance named after A. Pavlova and V. Nezhinsky Ochi-Ballet) and Osaka (Atsuko-ballet) . A dance school in Japan is named after her. In 2012, a ballet dance competition named after People's Artist of the USSR Elena Potapova started, in which 100 little Japanese took part.
