Best VR games on Steam |

In this article, we're going to take a look at the list of the best virtual reality games for PC that are available on Steam.

The best VR games on Steam

Virtual reality is a new modern trend. More recently, only a small group of geeks were interested in the topic of VR, but the situation changed when affordable virtual reality glasses from several manufacturers entered the market at once. There are both full-fledged devices for immersion, and just auxiliary structures for smartphones. In this article, we will not consider constructions. We are only interested in full-fledged glasses and controllers for them. The most popular of these are:

  • HTC Vive;
  • Oculus Rift;
  • OSVR.

Yes, there are many other projects that are somehow known, but for the PC these are the most popular options. I repeat – it is for a computer, since there are no less popular devices for the Sony PlayStation, for example, and how many of them for Android cannot be counted. But we do not consider these platforms, only PCs, since we will talk about Steam, respectively, we take the top games from there based on user ratings.

Let's start by listing the games that will be in the review.

Vanishing Realms

Vanishing Realms

The first game on our list with thousands of positive reviews. It can rightfully be considered one of the best virtual reality games.
Vanishing Realms: Rite of Steel is an immersive RPG designed from the ground up for VR. You can move around the room and the character will move with you. The combat system is based on the controllers in your hands. Rolls, blocks, several types of strikes are available. In general, complete freedom of action. The game is reminiscent of such masterpieces as Zelda and DD.

This game reminds me of Dungeon and Dragons that we played with friends. A bit simple and naive, but very exciting, I guarantee you! The gameplay is based on dungeon exploration, occasional monster fights and interesting puzzles. It definitely doesn't get boring. In the story, we go through interconnected rooms, periodically teleport between them, and recently added a free play mode. I especially enjoy the latter as it is implemented in such a way that it feels completely immersive. Especially worth noting is the smooth graphics from which even those who are susceptible to VR do not get sick.

Overall it's not a very long game in its current state, the main adventure (chapter 1) will take about 4 hours, but it was very enjoyable to play and definitely worth the money. Moreover, additions were promised soon.

On the technical side, the game ran fine on my initial oculus+touch setup, but certainly got more comfortable with 3 sensors as there were some issues with tracking dead zones when they collided with certain directions.

Arizona Sunshine

Arizona Sunshine

Well, where without zombies? A very cool first-person shooter set in the post-apocalyptic world of the American Southwest. The developers have done their best. They got very realistic movements and accurate monitoring of controllers.
In the plot and gameplay, everything is also very good. Nadezhda returns when you hear a human voice in radio broadcasts: there are, there are surviving in this hot -apocalyptic state of the Great Canyon in this hot state! In your desperate attempts to find people, you will have to break through the hordes of zombies hunting for your brain, and will help you with this, controlled by your body movements, meager ammunition and consumables that will meet in your path.

There are still several games on VR with amazing graphics. Arizona Sunshine, Raw Data and Sairento are on the top of my list. If you like Raw Data and Sairento, you will like Arizona San Shain. She definitely does not lose to them, but even surpasses something.

The game is very exciting and passes in one breath. She keeps in suspense so that I even fell to the ground with fear in some parts of the mine. This is just a super game that you can stick with friends. I have played it for more than 21 hours, but I think you will pass in 18 or so.

  • Good graphics, very realistic.
  • Physics of firing from weapons is perfectly spelled out.
  • There is still a small one, but there is still a plot, there is Russian voice acting, locations are not like each other (in the cave it is really creepy).

Onward

forward

This is a MIL-SIM tactical multiplayer shooter with virtual reality support. Players have to apply all their skills, think through the tactics of the offensive and coordinate actions with teammates to achieve their goals in the infantry battle. The time of day and weather effects are changing here, so shootings will not be similar to each other. The number of responds is limited, there is no HUD, strict directions of movement are not indicated, so you are simply left to yourself and your goal is to survive.

  • 5V5 online multiplayer
  • Solo / Coop against AI
  • 30 different types of weapons
  • Realistic game models

I absolutely recommend the purchase. It doesn’t matter if you like shooters or not, you like dynamic shootings or prefer to sit out in an ambush. Here you literally play for yourself and the game does not impose anything on you. The community is lively and healthy, and there are absolutely no problems with the search for a game and partners. I remind you that the rounds pass 5 by 5 people.

I do not know how the developers succeeded, but I felt an absolute immersion. This was no longer a virtual reality, but real. I have never felt so clearly shot, wounded and even killed. 10 out of 10 for graphics and sounds.

We finally did this VR … We finally did it.

Raw Data

raw data

Again, developed and sharpened exclusively for Virtual Reality. The entire game process Raw Data is intuitive, movements are read surprisingly for sure. Enemies are quite complex and require at least some tactics. The scientific atmosphere completely immerses in the surreal world Eden Corp. You can play solo or with friends.

If I had to describe the game in one sentence, then I would say that it pulled me into VR.
I felt like the last defender of mankind from robots. I felt the rattle of metal, the recoil of a pistol, like throwing grenades. Breaking through waves of robots and sweating. Played as a cleric.

All characters are unique and useful in the game. The levels are well designed, they are quite challenging and fun. The story is classic cyberpunk/sci-fi, the beauty is in the details that allow you to immerse yourself in this world.

Oh yes, there is also pvp, which is good. It's really well made. To be honest, I wish there were more levels because I'm already getting a little bored playing the same few over and over again, but the mechanics of everything are just great.

Space Pirate Trainer

Space Pirate Trainer

Space Pirate Trainer is the official VR space pirate astronaut demo. It was one of the first games for SteamVR / HTC Vive and Oculus touch. However, despite this, over time it only develops and the developers do not abandon it. Missions are being added, gameplay is being improved and the bar is generally being raised.

No droids were harmed in the development of the game. Fasten your seat belts and stay in the VR area to make sure people are not in danger.

A game that makes VR fall in love with even those who were previously indifferent to it. After Space Pirate, playing sitting at the monitor no longer inserts. Definitely MUST HAVE!
If all developers treated their products and the audience with such attention, then the gaming industry would be heaven on earth.

The game was bought before the exit from early access. Even then I did not regret it, the purchase was 100% justified. With the release of early access, it has become so multifaceted that it is simply beyond words. The soundtrack and visuals are polished to a shine, and the new types of enemy add the same drive that I experienced while playing counter dandy.

Hot Dogs, Horseshoes Hand Grenades

Hot Dogs Horseshoes And Hand Grenades

Do you like hot dogs? How about horseshoes? Hand grenades? (everyone loves hand grenades) Anyway, you'll get all of these, as well as other weapons. So if you like cooking, lawn games and ammunition, this is the VR sandbox game for you.

Hot dogs, horseshoes, and hand grenades are like a lazy trip to a friend's house on Sunday… if your friend is an ex-military man with an ammo dump in his pantry full of toys, a few annoying robot pets, and a grill that always works. Head to the shooting range and learn how to manage all this arsenal full of firearms, compete in logic tasks with other players. Relax next to the grill while cooking virtual meat while fighting off the wild life.

This is the most realistic weapon simulator in VR. The Dev is a great developer who is constantly updating this game with new content and patches.
The only complaint is that there is so much to do that it can be a bit difficult for new players.Perhaps it would be worth doing a more detailed introductory training.
But on the other hand, it means that there are a ton of things in this game, which makes it a bargain to buy at this price.

GORN

GORN is a ridiculously brutal VR gladiator simulator created by Free Lives, developers Broforce and Genital Jousting. Featuring a unique, fully physics-driven combat engine, GORN players will be able to play out their most brutal gladiatorial fantasies in virtual reality. From swords, pins and bows to nunchucks, throwing knives, massive two-handed hammers, or even your blood-soaked bare hands, you can brutally take down endless waves of weakly animated opponents with all sorts of weapons. The only limits to carnage are your imagination and decency, in the most brutal and wild VR game ever created by man.

  • I don't know how many hours I'll have played by the time you read this. But even after 2 hours of gameplay, it is already clear that this game is definitely worth the money.
  • Like many others, I am afraid that I will break my HTC vive. This game is the most grueling VR game I have ever played.
  • The sight, although invisible, is still accurate. I broke the controller on 2 walls, a shelf, a window frame and fell on the sofa 5-7 times. I have a pretty good orientation in other games. But this… this is too much fun to think about the room!
  • Even though I ignored the recommended requirements, GORN works without problems on Windows 7.
  • The only reason I am writing this review is because my controllers are being recharged.

Eleven: Table Tennis VR

Eleven Table Tennis VR

Very realistic table tennis simulator. Play with opponents in online multiplayer or practice against advanced AI. Hone your game skills and set new records. The physics of movement and the smoothness of the animation are at a very good level, because they were given special attention, you will simply forget that you are in VR.

If you do not have a tennis table at home, but found a thousand dollars for virtual reality glasses, then this game is definitely for you. Joke. And to be honest, it's really cool!

It looks like you are playing real table tennis. What is the recommendation here?

Pavlov VR

Pavlov VR

Shooter in the style of Counter Strike, only in VR, which in itself is a new level. Quite realistic. It is especially worth noting amateur maps from the workshop, with them the game can drag out for a really long time.

Thumbs up for my favorite VR game. In fact, it's pretty much the only thing I play. The game is super fun and has good mechanics. Users can create their own maps (and this is the most fun and interesting, you can come up with different map scenarios and make them realistic). I've never joined clans in games, never in my entire life, but I did it for Pavlov. It has an amazing competitive and generated app, not to mention the community is fantastic.I highly recommend this game and wish to join our Discord community!

Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope

Serious Sam VR The Last Hope

Well, the last game on our list, although for many it may be in the very first place, is Serious Sam. Have you ever thought about what it's like to be in the shoes of Serious Sam? Have you ever wanted to beat Mental's henchmen with your own hands? Well, the time has come! Take on the role of the Earth Defense Force's greatest hero in a unique VR simulation based on Sam Stone's journal entries from his time as captain of the USS Saratoga. Go through the hell that made Captain Stone a legend.

Really well done. I love this game.
If you want to jump into the game and immediately start shooting and having fun, choose it.
You are not burdened with a storyline and a high learning curve. However, it can be very difficult in more hardcore modes.
This game was one of my first with virtual reality. And now, after going through over 100 VR games, it's still in my top 5 games.
I myself play on the highest difficulty level and really enjoy it. Every time I scream when I lose and when I win too.
Passing the next level – the planet, I understand that my skill has grown and I'm ready for more. I really feel like I'm getting better and honing my skills.
Simply 10 out of 10, I advise everyone.
